Balance in the yoga sense is the practice of keeping your complementary muscles in balance as well as keeping your mind and body aligned. Your breathing is a big part of that. Guided meditation is the practice of someone telling you what to focus on, what to think about, and what to do as you meditate. Guided meditation is useful if you have not been meditating for very long since the mind can wander during meditation if you are not experienced in mindfulness practices.
