Pregnancy Stretch Marks

During pregnancy stretch marks are developed because your skin stretches as you add on weight. Hormones that are released during pregnancy also soften the fibers of the skin that make stretch marks more possible. Almost all women develop stretch marks during pregnancy. One can see these marks mostly in the stomach and breast areas which last for a long period. Due to these marks, one may feel odd and hence for the ladies to remove these marks is considered very important. They usually appear as red or purple or pink-tinged fine lines on the areas as breasts as described on, thighs, bottom, and tummy and hence all these areas must be considered while applying various remedies.

  • Cocoa Butter

Take organic cocoa butter or shea butter. Rub cocoa butter on the affected areas as chest, thighs, and tummy.  Shea butter can also be used. You can reapply either of the two twice a day.

Both of the butters are good sources of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, and skin absorbs them very easily. Skin gets hydrated and skin cells replenished. Vitamins like A and E are present in shea butter which increase the elasticity of the skin. These two kinds of butter are effective on pregnancy stretch marks.

  • Aloe Vera

Get an aloe vera leaf. Extract the gel by cutting the leaf. Smear it on the affected area and massage till the skin absorbs it. Don’t wash it off. It can be used twice a day. This is one of the best natural ways to minimise the development of stretch marks. It causes healing, and visible results can be noticed in a few days. It hydrates and soothes the skin.

  • Petroleum Jelly

Get petroleum jelly and apply it to the stretch marks. Massage with it for 5- 10 minutes. Before going to bed repeat it daily. It is an occlusive agent the meaning is that it retains or locks moisture in the skin which in turn heals the skin.

  • Dry Brushing

Get a body brush with soft, natural bristles. Use the dry brush on the affected area. Gently move it in circular upward motions for at least 5- 6 minutes. Take a shower. Apply some moisturizer. Do it daily before taking a bath. It stimulates lymph and blood circulation. By this action, skin gets enough nutrients and toxins are eliminated from the area. It increases the functionality of sweat and oil glands and causes exfoliation of dead skin cells. Your skin becomes soft, smooth, and blemish free one. Do it gently as the skin around pregnancy is already sensitive and irritated.

  • Glycolic Acid

What you need is glycolic acid cream. Apply the cream on the affected area as recommended. Use it once or twice a day. It enhances collagen production which helps to increase skin elasticity. In this way prevents the appearance of pregnancy stretch marks. Glycolic acid is an AHA that is alpha hydroxyl acid. It is one of the main constituents of the chemical peels. Glycolic acid cream can be purchased from medical stores. It is necessary to seek the advice of a doctor before you use it.
