Tribulus Terrestris – Herbs as supplements

by Sofia Kahn

Most of us aware of the synthetic supplements which are available in local as well as online stores. But we are not aware of the herbal dietary supplements which are more beneficial than a synthetic one, that too at affordable prices.

But how?

Herbs, as we know, are a kind of plants which have a special place in the plant’s kingdom. Consider the herb Tribulus Terrestris, which is widely available here, they are collected and undergoes a lot of processes like extraction, sterilization and grade qualifications. Then they are ground and mixed with the formula for a particular product.

Then they are boiled and cooled under room temperature and finally cut out into desired shapes. Lastly, they are stored in the boxes or bottles and send out to the market. Most of the procedure is similar to that of the traditional Ayurvedic medicine making which in more detail as follows:

Mixing:-

Mixing of the herbs requires a lot of patience. There is a product which requires 1:1 ratio again there are supplements which needs 1:4:8:3 ratio. When the mixing is done then comes the grinding

Grinding:-

Though there are machines available for the grinding process, in most countries like Asia and Africa they prefer to have manual help in which it is easy to say the consistency of the ground particles. They are then mixed with the water or acidic base.

Mixing of base:-

There are supplements which require an acidic or alkaline pH to maintain the results. So based on those, the ground particles are mixed and made a paste with the acid or alkaline.

Drying:-

Then comes the drying process in which they are either heat dried or air dried, again it totally depends on the manufacturer.

Compression:-

Finally, they are compressed using the machines into desired shapes to be packed and moved out.

Advantages of herbal dietary supplements:-

  • These herbal dietary supplements when taken not only improve that particular condition but also provide a whole body improvement.
  • There is no need to worry about the side effects when it comes to herbs as they are nonpoisonous and chemical free ingredients.

Disadvantages:-

When compared to those synthetic supplements the disadvantage of the herbal dietary supplements is nothing.

  • They have a low lifespan, meaning looks for the manufacturing date before buying.
  • They won’t be in a fancy package which is really hard to intake for the children.
  • They are not approved by the government which is also the story in the synthetic supplements too.
