There is growing trend these days that to stay healthy you have to do a lot of crazy routines. You must have seen the superstore shelves stacked with hundreds of vitamins. What they don’t tell you is that most if not all of these are in the foods that we eat every day. Or how about these supplements, hormones and everything else to put on muscle and lose weight. They don’t tell you about the peculiar side effects that many people experience. Why bother with all that when staying healthy is simple. Just follow this easy guide and your body will stay in the best condition.

Get Checkups

We don’t mean you should constantly be  knocking on your doctor’s door, asking him to run a full medical examination. All we suggest is that every so often you should go in to make sure everything is working properly. The human body is kind of like a car, and you should be keeping it well maintained. The reason for checkups is that sometimes things can go wrong without us realising. Not all diseases come with terrible pains and itches. Some are silent and often very dangerous. But, if you catch most diseases early, they can be fought and eradicated.

Take Your Medicine

Another opinion that seems to be growing is that taking medication and treatment weakens your immune system and your body. This could not be further from the truth. If your body is sick it needs medicine and if you have a simple problem like hay fever you still need medication. If you are worried about the cost of meds, you may want to look into getting a prescription discount card. Staying healthy could be cheaper than you think. Meds actually strengthen your immune system and keep your body healthy so you can dodge those winter bugs.

Eat Healthily

Here is quick news flash and a rather important one. Unless you are medically obese, you did not need to diet to lose weight. All you need to do is eat three healthy, balanced meals a day. Make sure they include your five fruit and veg and a good deal of protein and vitamins. Try to avoid fatty or sugary foods for the most part but a few treats now and then will not hurt.

Exercise Regularly

Notice that we did not say frequently. You do not have to go to the gym once every other day. In fact, you do not have to go to the gym at all. There are plenty of different ways to exercise. You could just go out for a leisurely stroll or why not try yoga? Yoga is an excellent form of exercise because it has been shown to soothe the mind as well as strengthen the body.

Avoid Stress

Finally, try to avoid pushing your blood pressure to a boiling point. We know some stressful situations can not be avoided, but most can be fixed. When you find yourself getting stressed, try a calming technique such as controlled breathing. Stress has been linked to every major illness including several types of cancer.
